Hospitals are never fun
OK, I really don’t like early mornings, especially mornings when I am given bad news. I always dread phone calls like that. My dear friend , Joni was taken to the emergency room during the night. I got to talk to her and encourage her with some “power verses”. I SO praise the Lord for her strong, unshakable faith! She is one of the strongest women I have ever known. I feel truly blessed to have her in my life.
I quickly map-quested the hospital(I love my GPS!), and got ready for the long drive after work.
Since yesterday I did a complete day of juice fast to detox my system a little, this morning when I opened my eyes I was REALLY starving!!
The Squarehead hubby kindly volunteered to do all the slicing today. That def. put a happy smile on my face!
Doesn’t food taste waaaay much better when someone else prepares it for you?
We had a true feast: freshly squeezed citrus juices (and pulp on the side), pears, strawberries and carrots. Great detox material!
It was SO much food though that I even saved some for lunch to eat later in the car.
Work was fun today (and every day). I got to play with my little messy friends. We made some pretend pizzas…
…and some real ones later on (with my other messy friend: TS)
For me dinner was some leftover cauliflower soup from Friday.
It was so good to sit down with TS after a long day and share about everything that happened since this morning. We can usually go on and on for hours…(especially him)
Although we had healthy snackies provided in class tonight (carrots, celery, broccoli and cherry tomatoes), I was sooo hungry by the time I got home!!! Soup was so yummy that I went back for seconds!
It was really nice to be with Joni today. I keep thinking about her. It’s so heartbreaking to see our loved ones in pain. I’m thankful I got to pray with her before she was taken in to the emergency room. She is my favorite prayer buddy (besides TS of course).
Everyone at work signed a card for her and the kids recorded a little video message for her. She absolutely loved it!!!
She liked her flowers too! I found out that it was a great pick because daisies are her favorite!
I also brought her a book that I thought she might enjoy at this stage of her life. I really like the works of Joni Eareckson Tada! She is a true inspiration!
I feel soooo drained out of energy! Driving on the highway is just not my cup of tea…
…plus the hours spent at the hospital brought back a lot of buried memories and bad experiences from my knee surgery that I had a few years ago.
I’m so blessed to be healthy today and be able to work out regularly without any pain!!!
Don’t take your health for granted my friend. Healthy people are not easy to find. Especially today. Especially in this culture.
Lights out here,
<º))))>< Reka
Ps. Please say a prayer for Joni tonight if you remember. Thank you.
