What’s this monkey business?

TS: “Honeeey! You gonna be late! Come have breakfast! I set the table for you!”
4.12
Me: “Aww, that’s so sweet of you. Thank you so much….What??? Ha-ha! What’s this?????”

TS: ”Didn’t you tell me that you like to eat with big spoons?” (Trying hard to look innocent with a sneaky smile on his face) Soooo funny! He cracks me up! :)

The ice cream scoop didn’t work so well… ;) So I did end up switching to a smaller spoon :) The Kashi “Cinnamon Harvest” whole wheat cereal was pretty good. I like it that it has all natural stuff in it and it’s not too sweet. Just perfect with coconut milk! A topped it with a 1/2 banana, strawberries, pear, flax seeds and cloves. Cold cereal usually doesn’t fill me up for very long (so I don’t eat it too often) but this one did! :)

Since I knew I wasn’t coming home for lunch (I had an important appointment scheduled with one of my professors), I took some goodies with me for the day:
1 large carrot, 1 organic Jonathan apple, 4 strawberries, a coconut protein ball (I’ll post the recipe for it sometime if you’re interested), a puzzle-shaped cookie and some ice water.  Collages3

By the way, did you know that April is Autism Awareness month? This blue (color of Autism), puzzle-shaped (symbol of Autism) shortbread cookie is made by Panera Bread to support the Northeast Ohio Autism Speaks organization. All proceeds from the sale of the cookies are donated for research. So make sure you get one! Calories and money spent on a noble cause! :) And if you’re interested in learning more about Autism, Temple Grandin (played by Claire Danes) is an awesome movie to watch!! I’m just sayin’  :)   Collages2
I love Wednesdays! Not only because there are only 2 more days ‘till the weekend, but also because it’s 50 % OFF Day at Salvation Army  :)

Salvation army Some people would never, ever consider shopping at a thrift store. I’ve talked to people before who consider it disgusting and humiliating to wear a piece of clothing that used to belong to someone else. But why spend  $10-50 on a new coat or dress when you can buy a gently used one for only 2 or 3 bucks? Even new clothes become “used” after wearing them the first time, no?  :) Two things I love getting at thrift stores: Beautiful, handmade stuff (like these embroidered shirts and cute necklace) and pretty dishes!!! :)

After I got home, I had this sweet little treat: 1 piece of brown rice cake with black currant fruit spread and some goat cheese crumbles. It was good! :)    4. 10
Dinner was this yummilicious thing today! #1: A bowl of creamy asparagus soup (from the freezer) with soy sour cream and cayenne. #2 A Spinach salad with cauliflower, mushrooms, carrots and salsa. I topped both with homemade, crispy whole wheat bread crumbs (as a replacement for store-bought croutons).

I’m waiting for Ts to come home from classes. We are going to do a workout session together and then watch The Biggest Loser online, since we don’t have a TV —Don’t feel sorry for us. We like it this way!  :)

But until then I’m gonna go and make some bread quickly, because my sexy Squareahead husband wanted a toast for breakfast this morning and we were completely out (I usually keep some in the freezer). I will post the recipe for the bread in one of my next posts I think, because a couple of you have asked me about it.

Q: Do you have any good bread or pizza dough recipes that I should try?

Have a good evening. Oh, and Jambo, my friends! (It’s bye in Swahili. I learned it in preschool today!!)
